Only for someone very familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro or video editing software in general?
I am working on a video project right now and need some idea's on how to get around a problem I've come up against. I want to overlay a cutout image of a person on top of the main video feed in one segment. My problem is that everytime I go into Photoshop, cut out the image and try to save it as a .gif file. it automatically makes the edges very choppy instead of smooth. I thought the resolution may be the problem, but I don't have access to a better quality picture. I have tried to get around this issue by blurring the edges, but that doesn't work either because you have to save the .gif file with a colored filler border in order for the blurring to be saved as well. That doesn't work, I need it to blend with the video. If anyone out there could recommend an alternative program or method so that I could get it to save with straight edges I would be eternally greatful. I have already put 60+ hours into this video project and this is the final bug I have to work out before completion.
Hey there
I haven't used Adobe Premiere Pro but I've used After Effects and this will work for After Effects so I'm guessing it will in Premiere.
In your graphics editor... (Corel Photo-Paint can do this for one... I'm pretty sure one of your Adobe editors can too!)
Open the picture that you need the cutout from.
Copy the entire image to clipboard
Create a new blank image file of the required size
DELETE the background (so you're left with just transperency... Usually grey and white squeres)
Paste the original image (it's now an object so that when you erase the stuff not required you'll have no solid background behind it)
Erase what you don't need and nicely blur or feather the edges as required.
(once agian, make sure you're ERASING it so you can see the transperency shining through from the background)
Now export, or save, the file as a PNG file...
Import the PNG file into Premiere and you should have your image with a trasnperent fade or whatever you did to it.
